Interview with Grey Ghost Bakery Founder, Katherine Frankstone

Grey Ghost Bakery sells some of the most delicious, scrumptious, yummiest cookies and baked goods we've ever eaten. EVER. Now, that's saying something. Owner and Founder Katherine Frankstone shares more about Grey Ghost and her journey below. YUM!!

where is your hometown?

Columbia, SC

what does your household look like?

I am happily married with three adult sons and a new puppy named Maggie!

what year did your company launch?

We launched in 2011.

what originally sparked your idea for the company?

I have always loved baking for family and friends, and running my own company has been a long held goal. When my sons left for college, I decided to start Grey Ghost Bakery.

what do you love most about your company?

I love that I was able to pursue a dream and see it come to life before me!

What is a current goal you are striving for?

We are working to expand Grey Ghost Bakery into more of a commercial operation.

How do you keep up your mental health?

Checking in with myself throughout the day and remembering to BREATHE! Life’s curveballs will always come our way, the best we can do is take a deep breath, stay calm, and work the problem before us.

Looking back on your entrepreneurial journey, what do you wish you had done differently?

I would ask for help early and often rather than beating my head against the proverbial wall.

if you could give some advice to your 21-year-old self, what would you say?

Take the time to explore yourself and what you want from life. You don’t need to worry about what people think you “should be.” Instead, pursue a life you are going to be happy with.
