Interview with Bauble Stockings Founder, Kate Stewart

where is your hometown?

Atlanta

what does your household look like?

Married to Peter, 2 Kids – Brianna (5) and Calder (3)

what year did your company launch?

July 2018

what originally sparked your idea for the company?

Not knowing and finding out that the “bauble stocking” wasn’t a universal tradition.

what do you love most about your company?

Everything! Creating traditions (and hearing about them), employing for fairtrade one of the most vulnerable populations in the world, and giving back to my community through multiple 501(c)3s! AND working with incredible artists and small shops around the country! Ah! I love it all.

What is a current goal you are striving for?

10,000 stockings = 107 full-time fairtrade jobs for one year.

How do you keep up your mental health?

Reading and rereading nice emails customers send – these fuel me and reenergize me.

Looking back on your entrepreneurial journey, what do you wish you had done differently?

Hah! I’m sure I’ve made some financial mistakes, but none are too bad I could name them.

if you could give some advice to your 21-year-old self, what would you say?

Stop trying to validate yourself through other people and use your energy and brainpower to find something that fuels you.
