Interview with Artist Julie King

Julie King's artwork is so charming and lovely, and her personalized note cards are divine. They are beautifully printed on her signature white card stock, and they WILL inspire you to handwrite correspondence to loved ones. Emails are great, but an actual letter in the mail? You can't beat it!

where is your hometown?

I grew up in Atlanta.

what does your household look like?

I am a single mom to an amazing little three year old boy, Charlie.

what year did your company launch?

I launched my company in 2017, the year my son was born.

what originally sparked your idea for the company?

I have always wanted to have my own business as long as I can remember. For years I worked towards this goal and finally took the leap of faith when I was pregnant with my son. I did not like the idea of going back to my job after he was born.

what do you love most about your company?

The flexibility to be creative, to make my own schedule and spend time with my son, and the ability to connect with clients and vendors and build relationships.

What is a current goal you are striving for?

I am working on some very exciting new ventures with my business that involve expanding beyond paper products.

How do you keep up your mental health?

It is a balancing act. I make sure I get the sleep I need, I will take the time to rest or walk away from work if I feel like I need a break.

Looking back on your entrepreneurial journey, what do you wish you had done differently?

I wish I had started my business earlier in life. I had what it took to start it all years earlier, but I was too scared.

if you could give some advice to your 21-year-old self, what would you say?

Trust yourself and don’t let the naysayers hold you back.
